So, since I don't have my connection that I had last year when I sent the fax to Rav Firer, I called his hot line today and got the scoop on how to consult with the Rav without "protectzia" (protection/ connections).
I first have to send in by fax all relevant documents. Doctor's documents & letters, summaries of my consults with various doctors, etc. And, a letter from me with relevant questions. I have the fax number.
After the fax has been sent, one is supposed to call, between 11:00-11:30 AM on either Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday. If you can get through in that half hour, you leave your phone number, and the Rav (himself) will call you back the same day, in a few hours.
Here is where I ask for active participation from anyone here in Israel who can help me out. When I spoke to the operator at the "Rav Firer life-line", she said that the half hour between 11-11:30 is very busy, and it is hard to get through to leave your message. She herself suggested that I ask friends to call as well.
If you can do this, here are the instructions:
We are talking about this Wednesday (19th).
* Start calling and doing redial at 11:00 AM. Here's the number to call: 03-5777001
* If/when you get through to the answering machine, say you are calling for Sarah Klein (בשם שרח קליין), please call her back at 054-468-8470. You can leave the message in English if you want to, I was told that would be fine. Do not leave your own name.
* I will be on-line for that half hour, so please email me if you got through. (sarah.specialdelivery@gmail.com). I will write an update to the blog as soon as I know anything. The secretary told me it's OK if more than one message gets left for me, it happens.
I hope one of us manages to get through on Wednesday, because Thursday is Azriel's tonsillectomy, Friday the hot line doesn't take messages, then there is Shabbat (no calls, of course), and we go to Meller on Sunday for our consult.
It is just so cool that I have this network of support to reach out to- all at once! Thank you for anyone who can do this- set your cell phone alarms!
Can the American contingent play, too, albeit at 4AM?
