But the rest of me isn't disabled

Today I went for a trial class with a personal trainer. I was put in touch with her by a friend. It is a small intimate sport center run by women, taught by women, only for women. Love that!

This particular woman is trained especially in hip structure and pelvic floor strengthening. We talked on the phone, and I told her a bit about my limitations. I brought to her a note from my orthopedist that I can work on my upper body. I met her today for the first introductory lesson.

She learned a bit more about my limitations and had good suggestions to explore what *is* possible. It was wonderful!!

I used to work out on a treadmill a few times a week, wear weighted shoes for strength, and walk tons. Sold the treadmill. We needed the space it was taking up, and a treadmill is not for me anymore. For two years I haven't done anything much, and I feel it. I feel like I have ignored my healthy body because of the problems I have, in one specific part of that healthy body.

It was 45 minutes for today, and it was very basic and gentle exercises. Some stretches, yoga style, and some Pilates. I liked the trainer a lot, and we had good chemistry. I signed up for 10 sessions. I am excited!

At least I feel I am doing something positive for my body (and soul). I can walk straighter... even with a slight limp.

I am healthy. I have health problems, but I'm not sick.
Gonna do this slowly, and I really think this woman is the one to do it with. Yay!
