Appendectomy was successful

The surgery was performed between 1:30 and 2:30am, and according to the surgeons went very well. They confirmed that this was indeed appendicitis. Sarah was able to sleep well after receiving subcutaneous morphine, but the staff "wisely" chose not to give a follow-up dose to prevent the inevitable return of severe post-surgical pain. So Sarah had to endure a very uncomfortable period until we got them staff to give another dose of morphine.

In general, though, things look positive. Sarah received a dose of antibiotics just prior to the surgery, and will receive more today, just to reduce the chances of a post-operative infection.

I'll update again when I have more info. In the meantime, visitors would be nice, but I'd recommend waiting until the afternoon or evening. Sarah is on the 4th floor of the new building of Soroka,in Cheirugit Aleph, cheder beinayim (turn right after entering the ward, and the room is on your right), at the end of the room and on the left. Of course, she may well be sleeping, so as always, caveat visitor.
