another infection

It just tumbles like dominoes. Once someone starts with a routine surgery, then catches an evil bacteria, then needs more surgeries, pain killers for after surgeries, more bacteria, more diseases, more surgeries... it seems like an endless cascade of events.

Now I have another bacteria in my system as a result of pain medicine. The pain medicine, might I add, which is needed because of recent surgery, which was needed because of the original routine surgery gone awry. I have a urinary tract infection (UTI). It is very, very painful. I went to my doctor today on an urgent basis because over the course of two days I've had increasingly more and more burning sensation while in the WC.

I was concerned that it is a result of the Voltaren (kidney function problems are among the complications). Well, my doctor said it is a result of the Voltaren, but not because of the chemical make-up of the drug. This infection is because of the administration of the Voltaren. Let's just say that I am not taking it orally... So my doctor's theory is that it is E-Coli bacteria. She did a urine culture, but started me on antibiotics today because it seemed pretty clear to her. The culture will come back in a few days and we'll know for sure. Either I'll continue with this antibiotic, or switch to a different one if the culture shows something different. I already took the first dose. This particular antibiotic I am not allergic to (obviously), but my experience with it is that it'll upset my stomach. And we all know how happy my stomach has been recently anyway, so this'll just join the party. Boohoo.

As one bowling pin hits the next, they fall down one by one.
Strike.

I just sigh deep in my soul for you and all you go through. May God hold you in the palm of his hand, and give you peace and rest and *healing*.

  3. I, too, am a survivor of NF (since Feb. 2004) and am currently fighting yet another MRSA infection. I can totally relate to your post and blog. It seems that once you've had NF, the aftermath is one battle after another after another. I hope you will be better soon.
