Ear Infection

Holy cow- I can't believe how much an ear infection hurts!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday (Friday) I felt it coming on; my ear was sore, and I was feeling very run-down and kind of sick feeling. I slept a lot, thanks to Robert's help getting ready for Shabbat together with Zimrah bathing the kids.

Woke up this morning still run-down and not feeling so great, but I went to shul (synagogue) to join my family. On the way walking home, I felt the ear get worse, and it was hurting in my jaw as well. When we got home, I went to bed. Robert & Zimrah fed the kids, and I stayed upstairs all afternoon. The pain got worse and worse. Made it through Shabbat with pain killers (for my leg also, which was especially sore because of the lymphatic treatment from Thursday). After Shabbat was over, Robert called a doctor to come make a house call; the medical clinics aren't open Saturday nights, and we didn't think waiting till Sunday morning would be a good idea at the rate the pain was escalating.

Doctor came fairly promptly. He tried to look in my sore ear with an adult size ear probe. It didn't fit because of the swelling! [big time ow] He switched it to a pediatric ear piece, and he saw the ear drum infection. Wow- pain. Large amounts of it. I've never had an ear infection before, and oh man- now I get it why kids cry for hours with these things- OWWWIE.

After discussing which antibiotics I am allergic to, he decided on one that hopefully is appropriate. He gave me a prescription for Zinnat; he said it isn't in any of the families I am allergic to. Here's praying it works and I don't wind up in the emergency room with a swollen throat and tight chest again. I took it a few minutes ago. I also took half of a Percocet- this pain is impossible to try to sleep with. It is almost midnight here and I gotta try to sleep.

Knock-down drag-out pain with this thing! Crazy. I hope this antibiotic works.
